Is this tablet real?

So basically, my mother has no idea what to get me for christmas and refuses to give me money so I figured I might as well opt for a tablet.

Being an android fan and not wanting to get a mainstream overprice tablet Id rather opt for a decent chinese import tablet. Im aware theres the flytouch 3 and all of that but im unsure whats real and whats a clone etc as apparently some clones dont work.

Ive had a look around ebay as im after a 10" android tablet and this one seems to be one of the best priced. Theres the same tablet but with a 8gb hdd for the same price but id rather have the keyword/case/screenprotector instead.

If you know of a better tablet for a similar price let me know as I might opt for that. The tablet above is 1ghz, 512mb ram, 4gb hdd, 10.2" 1024 screen.

All of the ones ive looked on ebay and whatnot that are generic android tabelts seem to have resistive.

Are the resistive screens still decent? and what are they like sensitivity wise?

with resistive you have to actually press the screen, like on a satnav

capacitive you just have to touch it
 
I've been wanting a tablet for most of this year but can never justify the huge cost.

If I could find a decent one for less than £200 then I'll go for it. But, I think that's gonna be well into next year. Hopefully the Android Kindle will start to push prices down when it comes here to the UK.
 
Ive been watching some youtube vids the resistive ones dont seem that bad to be honest, a lot better then I expected.

For those who own one or have used one what are they like to use in regards to playing games and browsing the web etc? I mean I dont mind if its actually ok to use but if you have to poke it hard every time im not interested. A friend of mine had a phone once that he got over an iphone and you had to literally push down as hard as you could to use it lol

Heres a vid of the superpad VI/6 in use which is what ill probably go for despite it being a clone.

That model looks like a decent setup. I would simply warn about this:

I have had some generic Android tablets come in (Not this one) that keep loosing their ROM or getting corrupted for no good reason. The problem seemingly comes from crappy memory chips, but I haven't been able to confirm that.
 
Ah, mounting the rom all the time could be a nuisance. Maybe once every six months or so would be doable but any more then that would get on my nerves quite a bit to be honest.

Theres quite a few floating around that seem alright.

What are they like for tech work? how adaptable are they to being used on site e.g. setting up wifi networks and calendar/invoicing etc?
 
That looks like a tablet a customer had me take a look at a while ago.
If it's the exact same one, I can say without hesitation that it's a piece of crap. The one I worked on was the flimsiest junk plastic, the touch screen was nearly unresponsive, and the speakers shorted out when audio played causing the tablet to restart.

The other thing is, it's Android 2.3 so you're not going to be able to use *real* tablet apps. I'd recommend something else for the Christmas gift...or ask to split the cost of an EEE Transformer or something.

One more thing I just thought of; I'm pretty sure this isn't going to have the Android Market. It'll have some third party market, but unless it's one of the big ones (Amazon) it's not a good alternative.

Thanks for the info, In all honesty I dont even really need a tablet I just thought for the price why not sort of thing but after the feedback here im probably going to either leave it or save the money towards a better tablet e.g. the transformer as mentioned or forgive me for saying it an ipad.

Ive watched multiple reviews and it seems to be quiet good. Does anyone know what the material is like and how flimsy it actually is? theres a video of it here

are they really that bad? im basically wanting to use it smoothly for

- MSN
- Video
- Most android apps
- Most android games

@ the screen, are they as smooth as in the videos? or not?.

I appreciate all feedback, im trying to get as much feedback as possible from everyone as people will have different views partly as some people will be able to buy the latest ipad etc where some will have experience with both.

The BlackBerry playbook is available starting at $200 now here in Canada...they recently discounted it...
 
It's not just chinese tat, it's cheap chinese tat. You really have to use one and have worked on one to see just how utterly atrocious they are. I've worked on two and both were very poorly made and developed several problems within weeks of being purchased.
 
I've just ordered one of those Ainol (love the name) tablets for the Mrs.

All the videos and reviews are good, and for the price you can't go wrong.
