Does anyone offer ipod repair? And if so, what do you charge for it?

We just started selling ipod repair kits from Blue Raven, and sell them for $120. They include shipping to and from BR, a new battery, and any repair excluding abuse or water damage. I understand that it's not worthwhile to repair older or less expensive ipods at that price, but everyone that's asked about it seems to think that's too much for the service. I just had a guy bring in an iPod touch with a broken screen that said "I'll just buy a new one, instead". Am I pricing these too high? The recommended price is $129.95...

How much do they cost for you to buy them in? If they're not selling and you can reduce the price, then it makes sense to do so. It wouldn't matter if we said $120 was reasonable - if no one is buying them, that's your answer right there.

It's an interesting idea though. Although I would be more inclined to try and repair them myself than be the middle man and send them onto someone else. It looks like you can buy most of the parts on ebay for a reasonable price.

Right now I have them on consignment, so they don't cost anything until I actually ship an ipod in. When I do use one, I get charged $90. I also have a few coupons out there offering $10 off.

There are a couple of reasons I didn't go with fixing them myself: Some of the parts are fairly inexpensive, but others aren't. I have no data to back it up, but I would guess that the hard drives and the screens are the most common replacement. To match the $120 (or 110 with a coupon), I'd have to sell some of the parts at a loss. On top of that, the kit I offer now includes a new battery with every repair, free shipping both ways, and a 90 day warranty.
