IOS or Android, what's your choice?

Well after a lot of problems with my Samsung Galaxy S2 I bought a 2nd hand IPhone 4S. I have an IPad and I originally had an Iphone 3 but bought an Android to learn the system. The fact is I rarely used anything on it other than the phone and a couple of programs because I always have my IPad with me. Most of my residential clients who have Smart phones have an iPhone and some ask me for help. So I thought I would ask as I believe most techies use an Android. Lets see.

Also, my iPhone loses charge incredibly quickly.

Fully charged......, to dead....., in one day, and that is without hardly using it. And I've had it replaced.

Yes, i have tried all the power saving tweaks, to no avail. I hope ios7 fixes it.

Also, with my degenerating eyesight (too many graphic magazines at a young age ), I find the screen too small.

Funny you should say that, my son and his family have gone on the overnight sleeper train to Edinburgh and he just texted me to say both their IPhone 5s are flat. He wanted to know what my portable charger is I use in emergencies. If you're interested it's one of these. Brilliant when I'm camping.

Many of my clients use iPhone or BlackBerrys. It's amazing how many Hollywood types cling to their BlackBerrys. Working with these daily makes me appreciate my Android phone more. I have an iPad to keep my iOS skills up to date.
Google Now is much more useful to me than Siri, without the attitude.

It would say its not on the network but I would only know when I went to use it. Reboot and it would work til the next time. It did that several times over a few months so I contacted O2 and they sent me a new sim. This happened a few more time again then the last straw was last week when after I restarted got 8 messages! It's gone away under warranty.

I'm android all the way - I simply cannot afford to pay more for the same or less. That being said about all I use my phone for is actual talk, except for the occasional GPS nav (thanks Google, couldn't rely on Apple for that!!!) and Google Music streaming (again, couldn't rely on Apple for that!!!)

I have an iPhone 5.

I purchased it through research, checking that all the applications that I required were available for it.

I had a few friends with both iPhones/iPads and some with Android devices. When the application was available on both devices, I did a side by side comparison, and for my purposes, the iPhone came out tops.

I have not suffered the same battery issues that Bertie has (maybe a different model? Mines a 32GB device), and I have worked out my usage over the past 6 months to:

2100 voice minutes per month
200MB data per month (yep, seriously!)

It is charged every weekday night, and just once at the weekend, when I let it get down to as near to zero% battery as possible. I do also have a battery optimizer on it from iTunes, but when I looked for a friend earlier this week, it was not available for purchase through the UK store.

I also have a Nokia Lumia 800, for personal use and messing around, but have found that the apps that I need (GFI, N-Able, Connectwise etc), are not supported. In addition, since upgrading to the latest release of Windows Phone (7.8 in my case, as it will not take 8.0), the battery life is now absolutely dismal. Used to be ok for at least 2 days, sometimes 3. Now, I'm lucky to get 19 hours out of it, and that's without any talk time!

one quirky thing about my android now that you mention battery life, is that some days it the battery might make it 3/4 of a day, with NO talk time. Other times it might last two days even when I've talked on it. I've even purchased another battery, same result. It must be a software issue - but I'm not running anything on it really at any point in time and I don't constantly toggle on/off wifi or bt or any of that, everything stays pretty much the same which is why I scratch my head over this.

I carry a RAZR maxx (original, not the HD) and a new RAZR M. I use the maxx for most everything and the m mainly for work stuff, Pandora, etc. My Maxx will easily make it two days, sometimes three, on a single charge, and I'm considered a heavy user. Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth, 4g, tracker app, running all day. Usually, I'll utilize mobile hotspot at least once a day, and fire up Netflix and play video app quite a bit. I charge it every night just in case, but I don't really need to. My M goes on the charger about every 3 days.

Now I should note, both devices are rooted and Verizon's bloat ware is either uninstalled or frozen. Still running Motorola's stock jelly bean roms though.

I have an unnatural hatred for all things Apple. Just the fact that they can't do anything anybody else does. They have to use their own plug, only phone on the market that is different. They have to use all their own overpriced hardware, that nobody is allowed to reproduce and make cheaper. Software is different. Having only one button on the phone. Do you know how long it took me to figure out how to actually shut off my ipod, instead of just putting it in standby or whatever terminology they use?

I laugh at my boss, because he owns a Mac laptop, but he uses it in bootcamp most the time because most software is not available on the Mac. I could keep going on and on, but instead, I will answer your question.

Funny thing is we use to all have android phones and we all got sick of them. I'm waiting on the 5s for an upgrade. My main computer now is a 27" iMac. My wife's computer is a Macbook. When I want to play a game I'll fire up the custom system I build but for everything else: Work, web surfing, notes, twitter, music, video editing, photo editing ect, the Mac cannot be beat.

iPhone 5 here. This was after the Droid X and Droid3, both of which I could not get rid of fast enough, let me tell you. Incredible battery suck and instability no matter what I did, and with Motorola saying there would be no more updates for it (was stuck on Gingerbread, and they considered this generous), I knew that was the end. After fighting tech problems all day long the last thing I want is MORE problems from my phone. So yeah I have numerous objections to the Apple Way but I just wanted stability and an impressive camera. That's probably as big or bigger reason I went with the 5. Husband got my iphone 4, and each of my twins has a 4 also (wifi only, not on any cell network because I'm not made of money, yo). They use them literally every day. I can't think of any other device or phone that would have pleased them as much.

Android all the way. The mere thought of having to install iTunes on any of my computwrs churns my stomach.

I had a lot of problems with my first android... it was a Galaxy S1 on Verizon. Verizon ended up ruining it with their buggy OTA updates. GPS quit working, phone locked up multiple times a day, etc. It was a great phone though, and I've read that flashing a stock (non-bloated) ROM fixes most of these issues. I plan to do so and give it to my kid for wifi-only use.

Just upgraded ti the Galaxy S3, and... OMG. This thing is incredible. They don't call it "the iPhone killer" for nothing! Best part is, it only cost me $50! Take that, Apple.

Battery life is vastly improved versus my previous phone (its about twice the mAh if I recall correctly) though the screen is bigger and brighter, higher definition (720p AMOLED), dual core 1.5GHz processor, 2G RAM, 16G internal storage plus up to 32G MicroSD, MUCH improved wifi radio, 8MP rear camera (1080p video) with ridiculously bright flash, 1.9MP front camera (720p video) both of which are EXCELLENT quality cameras (samsung's always are)... oh, and the 4G speeds are sick on Verizon's network. I steadily clock over 15Mbps down/8Mbps up.

This phone is just a beast... that's all there is to it.

Definitely Android here all the way, I love my HTC One X. I'm using the Apex Launcher which is fantastic.

The battery life is a little bit crap, but considering I'm always near a power source then it's not really an issue.

I have a 4S and a old HTC TyTN II from back in the days. I love windows because I've always like the idea of custom roms and having full control. I do use a 4S for the convenience of centralizing certain apps (Things) around my family. I do see myself make the jump to a new windows phone in the future. Got a android when it first came out to play with and didn't like it all. I've played with my friends newer android phones to familiarize myself with the OS .
