Does the HP Support Assistant work on that model?

I know on the business grade models it's the tool we use to install the latest drivers and BIOS. Similar to Dell Command, or Lenovo Vantage Update. It'll check for the latest drivers, firmware, BIOS, and install 'em.

Is the symptom the system has no audio because there is no audio device? I keep getting those, rare though it may be, but you have to force a different driver. I'll see if I can find a link.

Is this one of the machines that came with Beats Audio? (It should be embossed on the box somewhere).

I have an Envy 15 of that ilk and have had to reinstall old drivers to restore that functionality and keep things going several times. I've actually kept the driver files on that machine because Windows Update has applied newer drivers several times that knock out sound (or good sound). It's the one and only machine I deal with where this is happening.

Tried to find a link but no luck so I'm doing this from my very poor memory.
1. In device manager right click on the audio device with the error.
2. Select update driver.
3. The update page has automatic search and manual search. Choose the later option, Let me pick...
4. It should show a list of manufacturers. Pick Intel and then I seem to remember High Definition. At least not what's loaded now.

I suggest uninstalling it from the device manager and be sure to click the checkmark to delete the driver. If Windows detects it and installs a working driver I would let it go with that one if not you should grab the following 2 and see if one works. I would try the first one as it is the most current.

I usually extract with 7zip and install manually.

Done that and then immediately an install in place and that fixed it.
I had re-installing from the drivers' pack and it still didn't work whichever way I tried 😒. I did try direct install, unpack-install, auto-install, update drivers.
I guess that's all part of the fun troubleshooting and repairing computers.
Realtek drivers are the correct ones for this model.
