Incoming new bandwidth at the office! AT&T Fiber

EdgeMax Pro unit arrived yesterday.

Comes in a box with a fancy sleeve...

Pulled it out...short depth, but quite heavy for it's size. Comes with mounting hardware for our server cabinet...has the ears built in. Plugged it in...powered it up...fairly quiet considering there are two chassis fans in the back.

Typical biz grade router....no DHCP enabled, so set a PC to the 192.168.1.xxx subnet..., plug into Eth0 port, log into 192.168.1.1, standard Ubiquiti default user/pass of ubnt/ubnt, and you're presented with a gorgeous GUI. The usually info-rich "dashboard" of Ubiquiti.

Looking forward to getting it installed....won't be today or next week though. And in Myrtle Beach for a bit...won't remember much from that though. :D Hopefully in about 3 weeks.

I just setup my own Edgerouter POE 5 port yesterday and I must say that I am impressed. I ended up using a sample config template initially to get it setup and then went in to tweek it. It is amazing what this $179 piece of hardware is capable of. I hope to be setting up one of the Unifi AP's with it soon as well.

This seems to be the general consensus from us IT guys that start using Ubiquitis products...any of their products...starting with those Unifi APs which are well under 100 bucks cost (sometimes you can find them in the 60's.)

I have one of the lite units on the way to try out.

Stonecat, did the Pro one come with any documentation on what SFP transceivers work with it or are they fairly universal?

Came with documentation....I don't recall the details...I didn't read that section. But it looked like a standard fiber transceiver port.
