I have customer who is going to bring in her computer to my shop, I have not actually dealt with this virus so far.

The person that referred her to me is actually another technician and says he is swamped and can't make time for her.

Any suggestions on the best removal methods for this virus?

That's back from 2006. Seems unlikely to be still doing the rounds now.

I wouldn't put much stock in someone else's diagnosis personally. So often proves to be a major red herring.

I don't suppose it will require any particularly special treatment.

When you get it, just start it up and let it tell you what it calls itself. Once you've got that name (e.g. "System Tool" etc), google it and let a site like BleepingComputer guide you.

Personally, I prefer to get the name, do a manual removal, do my double-check scans and, while those are running, check to see if I might have missed something. Better for honing your skills that way. Most of the time, you can easily spot the main file in Autoruns so that's a good place to start.

Not 100% sure.. that is what the technician that is referring her to me is calling it.

Did a Google search and got this:

Some of the other sites the mentioned it seem like spam sites.
That thread you linked didn't really give any indication, short of the original poster's claims, that there was in fact, malware on the system. iexplore.exe is the proper name for Internet explorer binary, so it's not likely malware. I agree with the above posters, wait until you actually get a hold of the computer and work on it a bit, before asking for help. This way, you can actually see the symptoms, rather than relying on a third party "diagnosis"
