Hurricane Irma--I'm in the cone, darn it!

Yep, thanks! I've actually used the hurricane to sell last-minute cloud backup to my clients that don't yet have it, and sold a few backup plans. Without power after the storm, I will have no way to work...and now I hope my roof doesn't come off. My wife works for Lawnwood hospital on the coast, and it looks like she will be staying through the duration of the storm. So it's just me, my 50lb SugarDog (that's her in the picture at 8 weeks) and the cat. The animals have been acting strange for the last 24 hours, they seem to know something's coming.

I've got a couple of friends in the Houston Area still waiting on power to return or waters to recede. I have lived in the desert all my life. That kind of weather is just mind boggling to me. Everybody, please be safe. Grab your spouses, kids, and hard drives and go north, ASAP.

Yeah I am experiencing this as well. I live down in Boynton Beach as well and to say it has been a very stressful week is an understatement. Getting the house all boarded up and then getting gas and prep has been crazy. Right now as it stand the Hurricane continues to shift to the west side of Florida so the cone isn't hitting us directly. Because Hurricane Irma is so big we will still feel effects of it and not to be taken lightly.

I have moved my computers and bagged everything. Also taken backups and such. I sent out a Newsletter just a little while ago with the stuff that @Porthos posted.

Those that declined cloud backups in the past, i guess they will learn if they get affected somehow. Always told them living in South Florida this is very likely.

Best wishes and be safe.

We're located in Zephyrhills, about 25 miles (35 minutes) NE of Tampa and it's been pretty stressful here too.

We've stayed for five hurricanes, including the Category 5 Wilma in 2005 (whose eye passed right over us). But not this time! Last Thursday, my wife and I closed the office, backed up all the office PCs and drove north to our place in middle Georgia. The business phone is forwarded to my cell phone and I can remote logon if needed, so the business is not totally shut down. (The drive up was ridiculous. Took 11.5 hours to go 280 miles!)

And of course, now that we're here, Irma has changed it's track and may go right over us next Tuesday.

Lost just about everything I owned in a flash flood once, things I regret I didn't move to higher ground: all my photos, documents, '68 ford mustang convertible, they gave the all clear, went to bed then all hell broke loose when a wall of water hit. Don't relay on the forecasters, they can get it wrong! I got out alive, some in my neighborhood did not :( oh and that was just after 8" of rain in 6 hrs, and water got as high as 5' NOTHING like Irma, get the hell out, it will hit like a brick wall.
