I think proofreading is a lost art. I see stuff like this all the time in the media.

And it's showing up in places where you think it never would. Like WSJ, NYT, The Economist, etc, etc .

Exactly! Not setting a very good example for the general public, is it? Plus, it shows a lack of education, when they misspell prolifically. I'm horrified by some of it, wondering how kids can even get through high school when they are not pushed to at least garner some command of the English language.

I'm always flabbergasted by the misspellings, poor diction, awful grammar etc that Gen Z seem to think is acceptable.
Reading their social media messages, listening to them speak etc just continually keeps me eye rolling.

When corrected, they look at me like I'm from Mars.

When a (Gen Z) friend was studying for her Criminal Law degree I proof read every assignment before she handed them in. She appreciated the "second opinion."

I rarely correct anyone online but this is one I did......... I got such a kick out of the word "prawns", when I knew he meant "fronds"....... lol

You mean the ones that are all wrinkled and shrunken? lol...... I like 'em a little on the dark and toasty side. In about a month, it could happen during the 120+ degree weather..... lol

BTW, I'll take the extreme heat over the cold anytime. In the Summer, I run around in tank tops, shorts, and flip flops. Flip flops are for going outdoors, tho. I go barefoot in my shop. My customers are used to it..... lol
