I have been working on a HP Probook 440 to replace a power jack. From the looks of it someone had a go at it before me (college kid) because the battery was dead I had no way of determining the working condition of the laptop. I told them as such and they understand.
Anyways I replace the jack without any problems and the laptop works but it's having screen issues (I have included a few photos). The cable that runs to the screen is in the same specific area as the new power jack cable.
The laptop has a touch screen which works fine and it also displays fine using an external monitor.
The horizontal lines come and go with movement of the screen, by the weird black areas near the top stay all the time.
Any ever run into something like this?
I'm not super concerned as it could have been this way since whoever gave it a shot before me or perhaps it's been broken forever. The owner has no idea.
I've tried wiggling the cable that runs to the screen but it doesn't change anything.
Wasn't sure if this is a cable issue or the actual screen, so I was wondering if you guys ever saw anything like this.
Thanks,
-Chris
