I have a PP Pavilion Slimline s3307c Desktop PC that I am working on and it does not give a post beep.....goes straight to the HP Invent screen with options (F10 Setup) Esc Boot Menu, F11 System Recovery F9 Diagnostics......
removed both memory modules and attempted to boot with 1 module installed at a time, same screen......disconnected the hard drive to attempt to get into the bios.....same screen..........removed/reinserted video card.....same screen...removed cmos battery for 24 hours.......same screen.....any suggestions beyond this point?

Check HP site for product recall information. I have worked on a few HP Slim Lines whereby the motherboard has been recalled due to failure across all systems.

Its not giving me any post beeps......cmos has been removed/reset.......i also think its the motherboard....didnt know about any recalls....will check that now...may save my cust $239

Try a post card.

If no ram and no beeps, you're looking at only 3 options: 1) power, 2) cpu or 3) motherboard

Yeah, on a desktop a POST card really can show you stuff. It could be something weird like USB ports or a cooked Southbridge chipset.

At least with a POST it shows you the machine is alive and going through the boot procedure and where it appears to be failing.

But I think there are alot more basic diags to do.

Jimbo, I would like to add a POST card to my toolkit. Any particular brand you'd suggest or avoid? I see a wide range of prices, here are two I am wondering about:

It is the motherboard.....the basics have been completed......thanks for the feedback from everyone!
