Hello All,
I have a HP Pavilion Slimline 400-434 desktop that uses 19.5v power adapter. Is it possible to use a laptop adapter or a universal laptop adapter with the same tip and 19.5v?
The customer forgot to bring it with them and waiting for them to bring will take forever. I am just curious if this is possible or if anyone has tried. I don't want to try and find out the hard way, so I thought I would ask to see if anyone has attempted.

All the ones I have seen are the same. The desktop models typically use the same laptop adapters.

I've never had an issue using a laptop adapter for a desktop model.
Just ensure the voltage/amps are the same.

MichaelBits - Thank you for the information. I just tried and all seems good. Thanks again, I was just a little hesitant to try without getting some feedback first - thanks again

I've been able to use universal laptop adapters as replacements for all in one systems and it worked fine, so theoretically it should work for your case as well.

Those $299 junk HP towers with external power supplies that I've seen anyway, have 90Watts & 19.5v. So, 90/19.5 = 4.6A. Check your universal to make sure it has enough oomph, some of the little ones are only 65Watts. +1 for checking the tip carefully, if the box is expecting positive on the pin and negative on the sleeve and you give it the reverse - you're going to have a bad day. :-)
