HP Pavilion Notebook Keyboard Issue

I have a HP Pavilion Notebook with a number of non functional keys. I have uninstalled the keyboard driver and reinstalled the latest version and this hasn't solved the issue. I have cleaned each key with compressed air, this hasn't solved it either. My question is - is there anything else I can do before suggesting to my customer about completely replacing the keyboard? It's not as easy to do as other Pavilion models. In fact I will need to remove most of the hardware just to do the job...

I was given a suggestion a little while back about contact cleaner. I am uncertain that this is a good idea in this instance.

Don't mess around with cleaners just replace the keyboard. They cost almost nothing and yes, depending on the model you may have to pull out the MB but it's still less than a half hour job. (Since you say this one isn't a surface mount keyboard then contact cleaner won't do any good anyway and may mess up things internally.)

@add - Gutting a laptop like this to get to the keyboard may at first seem intimidating but once you do a few you'll realize there really isn't that much to it. BTW - Most Pavilions have surface mount keyboards. A few screws in the back and you can pop them out. But, there are other models that require a bit more.

^^^This Laptop keyboards have never been repairable. If you've cleaned it and still have problems it's time to replace. The nickel solution to the dime problem may be an external KB. Over the years I've had a handful of customer with trashed laptops, bad key boards, cracked screen, etc that didn't need to be mobile. External connections worked just fine.
