Are you sure there is no boot option? Sometimes it needs to be selected in the bios options(F1 etc) to become an option in the boot key slection.

Dont know then haven't got one to check. Try resetting the bios, it's got to have the option.

Well it says it is your model but maybe it is a generic text extract. I just know I have had netbooks with the same issue and it had to be selected elsewhere to appear as an option.

Does pressing F12 give you a list of boot devices to pick from?

You could try updating the BIOS to the latest version, or could it be that it just doesn't recognise that particular CD drive. Have you tried with an alternative, or even a USB pen drive?

I'm afraid I've had to give up on this one. I can't update the BIOS because I can't actually log into Windows, not in any mode, (pretty sure I said this in a previous post...apologies if not), thats why I need to boot off a CD to repair XP. Unfortunately I dont have a bootable USB drive but I don't see how it would make any difference as the other boot options just aren't there, even though they should be.

I have seen cases where the boot to USB option does not show up unless you have a bootable USB device plugged in.

It seems that this may be the issue in your case.

Yeah, I started working on an HP Mini 110 netbook last night. USB boot option wasn't there until I plugged in a bootable USB stick (Ubuntu). Put XP on a bootable USB stick and try a repair from that, worth a shot.
