HP inkjet Printers junk

So hard to find brother printers in stock and at a reasonable price right now

I was able to get a non-AIO unit at Walmart. Works so good and it was only $90. I wanted an AIO with touchscreen, but I can just get a higher quality photo scanner separately.

I dont print anything but invoices, so I buy cheap multifunction wifi printers (usually Epson, sometimes HP, Canon etc - around $30~$35) from BigW.
They come with 4 ink cartridges.
When the cartridges run out I just put in on the curb out front and it disappears like magic.
Replacement cartridges cost $90, so its less than half the cost to just buy a new printer.

Tried to set one up for a client the other day, and the client really prefers using the HP Smart scanning utility. I've set up the program probably a hundred times in the last few years. Got it installed, added the printer, and then it wanted me to make an account or log in before it would let me scan. Client didn't like that either, so we went old school with Windows Fax and Scan.

I've always avoided making an account, and it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't!
So now I always download the offline installer and set up that way. It has a HP program for scanning (not a store app). Unfortunately the HP scanning program doesn't have DPI scaling so on my 4K 27" monitor I can barely read the menus!

Great to know! I’ll follow up with my client and see if they like the HP scanning program!

That HP smart app is there to give HP entry in the decision making on YOUR computer. It takes over. Uninstall it. Install the driver yourself.

I agree, HP Smart is rubbish software...
