How's this for stupidity!

Got to add something here. When I first started my business I worked for 5 or 6 non-profit's including the local school. I charge them some when they took up a lot of my time but it gave me an introduction to guite a few people who ended up being paying customers. Those customers recommended me to others and gave me a great start in an area that I was new to.

This particular charity (in particular the lady who runs it) has referred me to more paying customers than any of my previous clients, probably all put together.

I should have set a precedent from day 1 but hey ho, you make your bed, you have to lie in it.

Yeah, I do a bit for charity but with one of them, the amount of work (and number of machines) increased to a point where I had to "engage my business brain".

So I had to increase my charges to a point where I was now making a bit of a profit.

They had a minor niggle at the increase but to their credit (no pun intended), they appreciated where I was coming from.

And they know I still do FAR more than I bill for, and response time is almost instant.

I've since engaged the same business plan to another charity.

If you can afford to do the charity work for free then good for you. Personally I can't, but I feel I offer VERY good value for money and go that extra mile.
