How to test LAPTOP SCREENS?

It doesn't happen often, but once in a while I get a scenario where I do not know if the issue with a laptop screen is the LCD panel itself or the cable.

As we all know, the cables can require entire laptop disassembly - and then the cable has to be ordered (waaaaait time).

Is there a tester that has multiple connections for all the different LCD screens that can be used to see if the LCD itself is ok?

Do they even make NEW laptops with CCFL screens anymore ? I think they stopped that several years ago.

I only posted this question because of a screen I am dealing with right now - it gets picture - but there are green dots around edges of the background photo. So I ordered a new LED cable and am now just waiting. Just wish there was an easy was to test.

For occasional testing like this, I'd suggest just keeping a spare screen on hand to swap in. There are not many variations in compatibility so a couple of screens with different connectors/resolution should do it.
