How to reinstall MS Office without CD

My client's Windows PC was reformatted and I now need to load the copy of Microsoft Office Professional 2013 that he bought. He has a card with an activation key and no more.

I have what I think is the correct edition/version of Office and I installed that. It is now asking me to activate. This takes me to a place where I enter the activation key which is validated then I am passed to a place where I need to 'redeem' with a MS account. But this fellow has no MS account.

Have I installed the wrong version perhaps ? The product was working on this PC for many months before a Windows Update messed with his registry in a terminal way.

He couldn't have installed it without an M$ account. He has one. He just doesn't know the details. Most likely it is his email address.

That was it. He claimed to not have an account but yet we were able to change the password and download a slightly different edition that worked.

I REALLY HATE that create account thingy to activate.. That kills me because NO client EVER has done that (just ask) and when installing new that is a pain in the a$$
