This is a new type of ZIF cable socket to us. How do you release the cable? (We have tried to move the metal clips in every possible direction and they are not going! We've even bent a couple while trying. Time to ask for help!!)

Low Insertion Force (LIF)

Pulling them out is easy. Putting them back in can be tricky. NO NOT bend or lift up any of the little silver leads on the cables as you push them back in our you will have to replace the cable.

yup they are a real pain to click back in. the cables are so sensitive. when i was first learning to fix laptop i bought a few on ebay and broke a few of those connectors.

All right, we will try to pull harder. The clips are so stuck in, that we have bent two of the metal clips while trying to "...just pull [them] right out."

Its a self-compressing connector sort of speak. There's nothing you can do to connector. Just pull the cable out by grabbing the cable on both sides as close to the connector you can. It will come out but with a little force. Just make sure you have the cable firmly in your grip and you should be fine. Do the same to put the cable back into it.

What is the proper name for the connector? It's got to have a brand name or some kind of industry standard nomenclature for it. I've never seen this one before.
