How can I make my own Secure USB stick that has TOR, Firefox, Secure Email, etc.

Greetings,

I am wondering if anyone here has nay interest in making a USB thumb drive that is similar to the "Ironkey". While I don't think I will be able to replicate the hardware encryption chip, I figure that it shouldn't be too difficult to create a virtual machine on a USB that is hardened, encrypted and surfs the web via SSH tunnels or TOR.

Does anyone here have any desire to start a little project like this?

Is there a project like this already under way anywhere?

I think maybe using Truecrypt and Qemu should kinda work in the way your looking for. Now if you really want to get into it we could create our own Linux distro spinoff that would integrate all the features better.

I'd be willing to get involved in that, but your talking about a pretty big project, but I don't see why the community here couldn't pull it off.
