Anyone out here a domain or hosting reseller?
My website end is kicking up but right now Im using a deluxe service for my hosting(unlimited domains) but I want to be able to have my clients have their access to their server. Plus, being a domain reseller I wont need to send them off to a registar to buy their name(I always insist they buy their own name) but if I do it- its income for me now and in the future.

So what service do you use? Whats the cost and most importantly- is it worth it?

From my experience... any worth doing is doing right... get your own dedicated server going and learn IIS... don't do the whole godaddy reseller thing. I personally use Network Solutions and register all my domains for my clients so expiration notices get sent to me... if they are sent to the client they most likely don't know what to do. You are bascially walking them by the hand in the process. You just have a standard fee for domain registration plus hosting. Also i don't use NS for dns i use DnsMadeEasy.com You may want to look into running your own mail server aswell to offer your clients more services.

Thanks- a dedicated just isn't in the budget right now. My first impression of reseller was you just actually set a price of what the service offered and then made profit off off that. But Im assuming you buy the actual reseller plan? (I guess kinda like a commission thing)

I considered registering them BUT the first couple times I got stories of Designers holding the domain name hostage. And in order to rebuild the trust, I started suggesting they buy their own names so they had piece of mind that their dotcom belonged to them. Although one was suckered into the DRoA scam before she hired me.

But the mail server is definately an option. May have a few questions about that

Look into SmarterMail I run it on server 2008 with a 1 terabyte mirrored raid. Works great.

And how do ya like it?
Do you actually use them as your host?
How does the program wor?
Host Gator has been great, tech support is top notch. I use them for my 4 sites and host around 20 sites, most of those are existing customers of computer repair. I pay a monthly fee for x=amount of space and x=amount of bandwidth, and I can host as many domains as will fit that plan (upgrades are easy ). I bill my customers every three months for hosting.
