I just finished repairing an Acer laptop whose hinge mounts were broken and hidden beneath the metal plate that's rivetted to the palmrest. There is no easy way to access the brass nuts so normally it would require a new palmrest+KB assembly.

I cut away a portion of the metal plate using a Dremel tool, flooded the area and mounting nuts with hot melt glue, then re-positioned the metal plate and re-installed the screws so everything was properly aligned. It's solid as a rock and saves the customer some time and money since they don't need to replace the palmrest+KB assembly.

Nicely done. Love my dremel with a cutting wheel. When I go MacGyver I tend to use epoxies.
Thanks, @Diggs. I love epoxies, too, but they stink up the whole house for hours so my wife is not pleased when I use it. Hot melt glue also has the benefit of being re-doable whereas epoxies are not so easy to undo when you want to re-route a cable buried in the stuff or make an adjustment.
