I have a Dell Demension 8400 giving non-system disk error. Went to retrieve data off hard drive and found RAID 0 (stripe) configurations both drives I can not read, they show RAW as file system. Customer would be happy if just can retrieve pictures. Looking for suggestions? Try to rebuild or just try and get data. I have EASEUS DataRecovery Pro and it would not recognize drives, so that recovery failed. I have to used EASEUS in the past to recover raw data. Tried to run SpinRite on the drives but SpinRite wouldn’t work on them because it couldn’t initialize the drive although it could see it. I’m making images right now with EASEUS Disk Copy in case I screw something up at least I can work on the image instead of actual hard drives. As far as the non-system disk error, I’m thinking bad MBR.

Thanks

Both drives are recognized in BIOS.

Did you try running these tools on the individual drives on another PC, or on the Dell while still in the RAID?

It is good that you are making backup copies of the disks.

Try working on the pc with the RAID intact, using a Win PE, like UBCD4WIN. If that does not work, you can clone the raid to a normal disk, then run normal recovery on it.

Thanks seeduba and Rob NNCC.

Yes I pulled the drives out and hooked them up to another computer to run SpinRite and Recovery.

I just started the second image and when that is done I'm going to try RunTimes RAID Recovery.

Things are going a little slow here this morning I was over served at a local winery last night and then over slept - trying to get my ass in gear here.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks

Forum Closed Files Recovered

Just wanted to close this forum and say thanks to seeduba and Rob NNCC again. I did recover the files using RunTimes recovery bundle $179.99. The bundle has RAID Reconstructor, NTFS file recovery, and Captain Nemo. RAID Reconstructor only puts the RAID together again, you need one or the other programs to recovery the files. I want to give a thumbs up to Jody and RunTime support - they were very helpful and responsive to questions during the whole recovery.

I also want to give a thumbs up to ReclaimE data recovery software support team. During this recovery process I tried to go the free route and the cheapo route neither worked. ReclaiMe gave an unexpected full refund because I didn’t get any data using the $30 recovery program. I didn’t realize at the time they also had a RAID recovery software. But as I said I would like to give a thumbs up to Elena and ReclaimE support they also were very helpful and responsive to questions.

I’m an EASEUS man myself. Most of my software I use is from EASEUS, but I’m definetly going to try RunTime and ReclaimE in the future, both were first class in my book.
