So, as an update from my post, https://goo.gl/RbcmYi, I took you's guys advice to heart and I have updated my pricing structure to only include one, instead of splitting it into residential and business. Let me know what you guys and gals think:

Pricing Structure v2.0

Hourly: $50
Service fee: $50 (a.k.a: travel fee)
Malware removal + Tune-up: $149
Tune-up: $79
Desktop parts install: $49 + part+tax
Laptop parts install: $69 + part+tax
Mac parts install: $79 + part+tax
Laptop LCD install: $89 + part+tax
Windows install: $149
MacOSX install: $169
Password removal: $39
Data Xfer: $59 (20GB) + $10/10GB
Home Networking (one router/switch, two computers/device): $199 Additional devices: $29

That's what I've got so far. Let me know if I'm missing anything. Do the prices make sense? In advance, thanks.

I would make the OS installs one price. I don't like the Service fee, what does this entail? How many miles? Does it apply if you go across the street for example? I think you would be better off just requiring a minimum of one hour per call out, since it's the same. Unless you were going to do a minimum $50 for one hour then a $50 charge for travel. If that's the case, raise you hourly rate instead of the $50 travel charge.

The service fee is anything not across the street. Since I live in a rural area that's pretty much everything. I may put a 10 mile radius limit on it. I'm thinking just making it one fee for all, less complicated. Plus, I like to get my travel cost upfront. I don't want anything to come out of pocket if I can help it.

I understand that many rural areas do not support the prices that people get in metro areas. But you should still do what you can to up the total for the first hour. Like @Slaters Kustum Machines I do not like the Service Fee. More for the name than the purpose. Kind of sounds like an insult fee, which is a term I learned in a previous employment.

Of course you need test the market but raising fees is much harder than lowering them. In my situation I charge a flat rate trip charge based on distance/locality. But my hourly is much higher. So the trip charge only kicks in at around 20 miles. And goes up based on distance/locality. Currently a max of $55 for around 60 miles. Some other thoughts on things you can try. Such as same day surcharge, evening surcharge as well as weekends. Even if you have nothing going on the same day there is no reason for you to discount that. Maybe a new customer setup charge. But you need to do something with that such as run a discovery tool on the first trip, document their setup, etc.

In previous posts, you mentioned blocks of service time. I wouldn't do away with that concept if you have clients that are using it. It works great in some areas and not so good in others but I don't think it would undermine your current rates. Especially if you raise them. $50/hr seems low.

Travel Fee is a better name, but I would try to incorporate that price more into a higher hourly rate. Besides that the rates look good.

I charge the current IRS mileage rate and put it on my invoice as a separate line item for 2-way travel. But I don't charge for the time involved.

Data Xfer: $59 (20GB) + $10/10GB
Seriously? I think you need to revise this number, as you are charging many times more to simply copy files between healthy drives than what most data recovery labs charge for that amount of data from a drive with crashed heads.

A 2TB drive that is perfectly healthy and just full being copied to a larger 3TB drive:
Your price is, based on the above math, $2039USD (I'm assuming the USD part)

A 2TB drive with a blown PCB, Stuck Heads, Firmware Issues, Bad Sectors and File System issues, completely full:
My price is $350CAD for professional data recovery services

Is my math off? Am I missing something?

I tackle those on a case by case basis. Since I am residential only the worst I have seen is a 600 gig steam game folder. That customer said he would just re-download his games.:)

I am fan of the "service fee." I call it a "on-site service call" and that helps me keep track, roughly, of how I'm doing with the company car. Ideally the total of the "on-site service call" account in QuickBooks is at least break-even with the "Vehicle expenses" such as lease, insurance, and gas.

Okay...but, what if there is 2.5TB of data in the backup?

Fair enough. I didn't calculate for that much data, as I'm only interested in copying user files with Fabs. Anything else is outside of the scope of any service I would offer. Given that, is an adjustment still necessary?

I have changed the name from service fee to travel fee. It makes sense to "not bury the lead" so to speak.

Although, I am toying with the idea of adding a convenience fee to cover the fees Square Pay charges. It's 2.75%+ per swipe.

I could never get away with your operating system, malware removal, home networking, or data transfer pricing in my area. I wish I could though!

I have one client that consistently pays with Square, what I do add an extra $5 to the bill or so to cover the fee. I of course let them know and they are fine, some customers they just rather pay with Credit card then write a check or get cash at the ATM.

Yeah I wish I could too lol. When I do the virus removal I am also doing a tune up after that. I just bundle it so the client sees the value in that.
