Google Sent Me a Beacon

So Google sent me a beacon free in the mail. You apparently just hang it on the ceiling. On one end, it seems kinda creepy tracking customers through their cellphones with their location service being on. On the other end, trying to think how this could benefit my business. Worth even setting up? Can't see any real advantages unless I'm missing something. Some info: g.co/beaconhelp

Some businesses use it to show target ads or specials to customers as they come in.

Others use it to track numbers and look for patterns.

I received one last week, although I'm not a retail store, I have an office that people come to. I installed mine by my door.

I hope you realize that they are tracking you too. As we all know, Google is all about gathering and selling user data and metrics. They never do anything for free.
