Gold Thermal Paste

Hi Adam: I've tried a few over the years but as you said Arctic Silver is pretty good, I saw the Thermal Gold on e-bay & it comes in Individual 1g tubes so it's ideal to keep in your Field service kit.

To the best of my knowledge, nothing beauts Arctic Silver 5. If you are working on a system that you don't want to risk using metallic base compounds, Ceramique from Arctic Silver is great stuff... Apparently they now have that in a version 2.

Personally, I even still have a tube of Arctice Alumina. If I was going to buy one for a bunch of techs to use and had to eat the liability, I would buy Ceramique 2 because you would have to be an idiot to mess anything up with that... it could probably overflow onto the socket without causing problems (though I wouldn't want to try it).

Hi Netwizz, bet I could show you a few Techs who could screw up with it, Lol. I used to work for a firm where all the Techs were given a can of EHT sealant for use on Monitors, 1 of them was Dumb enough to screw up a DVD drive by spraying the sealant into it.

To add a little in on the science side, gold is a better conductor of electricity and therefore heat. If the active ingrediant is actual gold then yes hypothetically it would work better. However the Artic silver compound is tried a true, been used many times and is always the best. That being said the only reason artic silver would be better is the overall make of it. Theoretically if artic silver was made the same but with gold it would be better but also more expensive.
