Gmail with Outlook
I have a client that wants to merge her 3 Gmail account address books into one using outlook
How does Gmail handle the calendar it looks like she is using old outlook calendar
I do I set it to use Gmail calendar

Thanks but unfortunately Google Calendar Sync does not work with Outlook 2010

I thought maybe Gmail would automatically download calendar and address book into Outlook

Are you positive? Have you tried it?

I can't recall if my clients who use it have 2010, or 2007...

Why not just move them onto Exchange or paid Google Apps? That's the only option I'm aware of.

I know you can setup gmail as an exchange account on idevices... You might pick exchange and enter the server as m.google.com and leave the domain blank... I don't have outlook to test this but its a thoughts..

You *used* to be able to...not sure if it still works or not, but I know that google killed EAS for contacts & calendars for non-apps users.

You have to use CalDAV/CardDAV to sync contacts & calendars now.

I did try to install on my computer but it said 2003 or 2007 I had 2010

What is CalDAV/CardDAV a 3rd party paid solution

Thanks

If your client must use Outlook, it's worth it to pay the $50 a year for google apps. You get the Oulook Sync which is great if you use multiple computers, Calendar sync plus the phone support which is quite good.

If you don't need the calendar, Postbox is the best windows or Mac client for Gmail.

These are standard protocols that apple, google, and others use to sync contacts and calendars. Outlook doesn't directly support them MS using instead its Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) protocol.

Google used to support EAS for free, but now only for the paid apps, while Apple still does.

For my clients that "must" use free Gmail and outlook I set them up with Companion Link for Outlook to keep their contacts and calendars in sync.
It's pricy, but rock solid and has great support.

GSyncIt.... that is all.

These two look pretty good but TBH I'd be pushing them towards Google Apps for Business.

By the way , Google Sync has been discontinued for new users and is no longer supported for existing users.

Ahh good call... I used Gapps so that explains why I was able to set it up for the wife.

She was asking about office 365 but I told her it would not do her much good
with gmail accounts and she alreafy has Office 2010 installed
best option I think would be Gapps for business

Is it not still supported for Google apps for business?

If you use the paid Google Apps, Google still makes available & definitely supports their Apps Sync for Outlook tool.

They only discontinued various sync methods for free Gmail users.
