I was just thinking about ways to build customer confidence for businesses. Obviously all businesses appreciate positive customer feedback and testimonials but what about a testimonial of peers and colleagues? Obviously a biz owner isn't going to ask their immediate competition but making contacts on sites like this opens up doors to many possible peer reviews. This forum has the "friends" under the networking section of the forum so that could be a good place to start to look for possible reviews.

Can anyone think of reasons not to do this or is this a good idea?

What you mean fake testimonials for jobs not done?

Wondering myself what one could put. Is it going to be a testimonial saying "so and so makes good post on a forum"...Maybe you need to explain
exactly what you are talking about.

The point of peer-based reviews is that they are peer-based.

In other words, consumers want to hear from other consumers about their buying experience

Cant see any relevance to consumers of hearing what one business owner thinks of another, as it would not reflect on the experience of consumption that could be expected.

.

CPA's do peer reviews -- but it is a standardized, very thorough process. Audits of their client's books, review of tax returns done by the firm, review of processes and methods. One of my CPA firms just went thru this... I had to provide documentation on their systems, software, security.

Not worth it for techs IMO.

Some people interact outside the forum. If someone helps with answering problems or they give good technical advice/support then a peer could say that "they are a confident technician who has a very good understanding of...." fill in the rest. There are some members on here who are very helpful in answering questions and when answering their skills and knowledge shine through and you get a good idea of their grasp/handle on the topic.

Ok I get where you're coming from now. :)

Seems like more of a Linkedin things where "peers/coworkers" can comment on others. If I went to "Joe the plumbers" website and saw a testimonial
from "Bob the plumber" not sure if it would carry much if any weight at all in my eyes.
