Getting leads with smaller packages

Was recently speaking with another larger Msp and they get leads by selling BDR and security solutions. Once they get a foot in the door with either of these packages they try to move to full managed services.

Was thinking it isn't a bad idea BDR would be a Datto solution security package could involve AV, Cisco Umbrella and perhaps spam filtering.

Anyone else doing something like this with any success?

Not specifically in that manner, but we typically get started in a break/fix scenario and after about 3 months we are able to convert them over to a MSP plan. There's a couple of things going on during this time. Usually the clients have no idea what MSP is and are uncomfortable with it at first, they and we are getting used to working with each other and we inform them each time we do some work what would have been covered\prevented if they were on a MSP plan. Don't force them, show them the way and gently persuade them. At least that's what works for us.

Slaters, that's a good idea. I just picked up a client, from word of mouth on how i handled a complete ransomware disaster and how there IT guy took DAYS to get the business running again. Yeah, the dude only did file backups, no bare-bones :| , anyways i'm trying to pitch them the MSP route as i'm trying to transition out of this model. I've been building hours with them, but have not billed yet. I think i'm going to pitch it as, if you take the diamond tier i'll retroactively include all these in a 1yr contract along with setting up a new server.

I have a few I don't think will move to that model, but they pay well and fast and usually can get a decent amount of work from them. So I guess my customers will be blended. But I have a feeling most probably are like that.
