General OS reinstall questions from a noob

With the final ISOs that were available from Digital River, I'm pretty sure they could be activated/installed with OEM keys as well as with retail or volume keys. If you're dealing with a factory Windows 7 Pro downgrade from Windows 8/8.1 Pro, you won't have those keys and life gets more complicated.

For arrguments sake...im not going to do a downgrade for anyone yet. Just thinking hey I got a HP but I have a generic installer not the recovery disc.
