Freezing & Bootmgr Corrupt. The system cannot Boot

I think what you say is generally true, but in this case it sounds pretty much like the issue described in the link I posted above. Early Cougar Point chipset with B2 stepping. Or at least that would be the first thing on my list, given the OP's last post.

Hey there Fremont,

You are probably right now that I have went back and reread the post. That's what I get for jumping before I look eh?:D Thanks for the catch

Thanks Fremont and Easy Technician for your input.
Thanks a lot for the link. Nice find. Same chipset is in this motherboard.

Looks like the link is pretty close to the issue experienced so will organise a replacement motherboard. Will check power supply just in case.

Glad we nailed it, ac1. I think there might be a 3yr. warranty on that board, if that info turns out to be of value. I have no idea what Asus would ship as a replacement. Might be best to go with something with more of a proven track record, as the reviews I've seen on this board are split.

Maybe get the info on the PSU and check the reviews on that too?

Aside from that, not much to do but bask in the glory of a hard-earned victory. WTG ac1!

Smooth sailing -

FPC

Thanks FremontPc and to all who helped.
Never seen an issue like this
It all worked out well in the end
