Free software for end-users giveaway?

So as yall probably remember, I bought $180 worth of cartoon USB sticks.
The majority of them are in!!!

Today I plug them 1 by 1 into a trash computer and nuke with CCleaner... To ensure they are safe and clean.

I want to put some "helpful" stuff on their for the people that win them as prizes and such.
Of course, I am going to put some advertisement material on there as well...
Curious if yall have any good suggestions on software?

I am thinking something that shows system specs/age/info/hard drive SMART.

I would really like something like MBAM, but it doesn't clean, it just scans, and if there are infections, it tells them to bring it in. like a virus detector.

Also debating like 3 free months of my MAV, or something of the sort.


Curious if yall have any suggestions on good consumer friendly software? (That won't fix all their computer problems)

I would avoid the SMART, they won't really be able to know what it tells them.
Perhaps something like this though:

Introduce them to some of the good free programs out there...
Such as:
VLC
Notepad++
Paint.net

Crystaldisk portable might be an option if they allow distribution. A customer doesn't have to be a SMART expert to decipher "Good", "Caution", and "Bad".

put on the gegeek toolkit and tell them to run that....it would probably scare any end user into calling you.

Put Avast Free on there. Then sit back and wait for the calls! (No, seriously DON'T do that!)

Some very helpful free software that I've installed for clients are :
VisiPics (for sorting duplicate pics etc)
Portable encryption programs, like
EncryptOnClick, NeoCrypt etc. Portable, easy to use and free.
Infrarecorder 32 and 64 bit, Portable burning software.
XMedia Recode and Aura Video Converter, (paid and free versions.) Portable and surprisingly no malware payloads!
QuickAny2Ico, (by a fellow 'nibbler, I think) another portable for creating icons for their folders/desktop etc.
...and last but by no means least...
Shotcut. A very powerful and feature rich free video editing program. It is also portable, which means no installation!

I wouldn't mention anything about "getting them at a pretty good price" as it's totally irrelevant to the end user and really none of their business.

To end users "empty and formatted clean" would mean that they are just an empty shell/pretty toy for kids to play with.. My .02

An observation on the "free software" thing. All software is copyrighted by the author. Pretty sure it's by definition unless and/or the author says otherwise. So "giving" it away is a problem if someone decides to make a stink.

I agree with Greg here. also be careful of the kids wanting to play with them and eating the heads.
