Microsoft is announcing that beginning in early October, Microsoft Security Essentials will become free to use for organizations with up to 10 PCs.

Ya, I am unsure what will change in the licensing, just thought that I would point it out.

I'm guessing they're just firming up the deal. I thought it was just plain "free for commercial"..period, so it's good info.

This is good news. I was also under the impression that it was already legit for small business use, so I set up one of my small business clients with it just last week. (Only 1 PC, but not home-based) So I guess I'll just have to cross my fingers for the next 10 days or so.

I'm pretty happy with this myself. Its nice to have a legal free option to recommend to very small businesses.

Yep, very nice for small businesses - although, once a customer gets up to ~8 to 10 computers, I usually like to have a central console for management, reporting, remote installs, etc.

It's hard to beat free though for a lot of small businesses these days.
