FireFox Booster for Ver 4-14..xx (15 Feb 2012)

This is a small utility to set your FF settings to "max" speed and connections. Although you can do it via the about:config-way, this is way faster and safes you time...I will add a feature where you can enter your OWN settings in the future...
To be used with FireFox ver 4,5,6,7,8,9,10.xx ( Updated 15 Feb 2012 )
...enjoy :p

PS: Do a speed/connection-test here ---> http://spasche.net/files/parallel_connections/ BEFORE adding the settings, and one AFTER applying the settings and notice the diff...
The following "tweaks" has been applied --->

MADE FOR FAST COMPUTERS!
1) network.http.keep-alive.timeout", 600
2) nglayout.initialpaint.delay", 0
3) network.prefetch-next", false
4) network.http.max-connections-per-server", 16
5) ui.submenuDelay", 0
6) browser.cache.memory.enable", true
7) network.dnsCacheEntries", 512
8) network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server", 16
9) network.dnsCacheExpiration", 3600
10) network.http.request.max-start-delay", 0
11) network.http.pipelining.ssl", true
12) network.prefetch-next", false
13) network.http.pipelining", true
14) browser.cache.disk.smart_size_cached_value", 1048576
15) network.http.pipelining.maxrequests", 10
16) network.http.proxy.pipelining", true
17) network.dns.disableIPv6", true

PS: THERE IS NO WAY THAT YOU CAN OVERWRITE YOUR FIRST BACKUP...MEANING YOU CAN ALWAYS "REVERT" BACK!!!

Download Here ---> http://www.mediafire.com/?vmgh26bhdu3hz7b (latest 22 Dec 2011 - now with better security)

TIP: If you do an "Upgrade" AFTER applying the Booster, do the following --->
1) RESTORE your old settings with this utility
2) RESTART your latest FF ( it might ask to check for compatibility programs...not to worry, this is normal )
3) Last but not least, do a "BOOST FIREFOX" again...
Done...

Download blocked by Kaspersky as Trojan (generic) in the exe.

You'll have to give more detail about this program rather than just an unknown download if you want people to try it e.g. which settings is it changing?

An official FF add-on in repository would be better - and a list of changes as some well publicized 'tweaks' are outdated or just plain wrong - and there are some which are good for FF4/5 but bad for FF6-8

And some that have been and will always slow down certain websites or cause you to be blocked by them. The tweaks that have been going around the Internet for ages are FUD at best.

Thing is it "acts" like a virus to some programs as it changes the "prefs.js" file of FF...I think your anti virus is set to "Heuristic"...then it usualy does this...same as "keygens"...they're not real viruses ( some at least ) but "acts" like one as they manipulate files...here are some of the tweaks --->

("places.history.expiration.transient_current_max_pages", 64364);'
("network.http.keep-alive.timeout", 600);'
("nglayout.initialpaint.delay", 0);'
("network.http.max-connections", 48);'
("network.prefetch-next", false);'
("network.http.max-connections-per-server", 16);'
("network.prefetch-next", false);'
("browser.cache.memory.enable", true);'
("network.dnsCacheEntries", 512);'
("network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server", 16);'
("network.dnsCacheExpiration", 3600);'
("network.http.request.max-start-delay", 0);'

Very true Daifne, as some folks's connections are just TOO slow...then a huge tweak wont really help. If you DON'T like the tweak, ( i would suggest doing the tweak only once), then just do a "RESTORE BACKUP FILE". If you do the tweak MORE than once, youll only restore the LAST session...but i'm working on that, so it will revert to the original-settings you had in the beginning...will try and release it later this week :-)
I was also thinking of a tweak where folks can "add-in" their OWN settings...

I have fixed all "glitches" etc in the program...Please check on top of thread of the latest changes and advice if you think some changes doesn't apply...I will try and compile a util where you can add your OWN settings in the future. I know there are a lot of other programs out there, but i did this just for fun...The next version will basicly be a TOOL...and wont have "fixed"-settings :)

Gave it a go. I am concerned that my antivirus DIDN'T give me a false positive. But I digress. I noticed a significant increase in the initial page-load time for different sites. I may even use this as a part of my Tune-Up process.

Glad if it could help you...I would suggest turn-off only the "heuristic"-detection of your virus-program, as this usually detects any behavior that "acts" like a virus...( Doesn't mean it IS a virus when "heuristic" is turned on )
