Feedback on PC-Diag Professional

Hi guys,

Just wanting to know if anyone uses or has used PC-Diag Professional? I know there are popular alternatives but they are out of my price bracket at the moment especially when I add on shipping and customs clearance fees to get it here to NZ (adds between $150 to $200 USD onto the cost).

PC-Diag Professional is $99 and I can download it therefore avoiding shipping and other costs and then I can create the bootable USB and CDs.

My concern is the lack of reviews and the only info I can find outside of their site is compaints about their crap support.

Any feedback appreciated.

Cheers
Justin

I'd be interested to hear about any feedback also. I have just registered for a free 6 use trial so if I have any useful info will pass this on. We currently use similar software from PC Doctor and PC Check. Both have their pros and cons.

Hi all,

I bit the bullet and purchased PC-Diag Professional and I've used it a few times and it's helped me out a couple of times already. Once I've mastered it I'll see about writing a review on it (as there's bugger all info on it out there at the mo, except on their site which of course is HIGHLY biased).

I've also ordered the PCI tester cards etc from china for $19 USD (free world wide shipping) so the all up cost is $118 USD. If it's a waste of time I'll let you know.

Cheers

I'd be interested in hearing what you have to say about this. I have twice signed up for a trial and received nothing back, no emails with details to download :( so cannot try for myself.

Hi TheLaptopFixer,

I was waiting for an email as well but it's all done via their online store, so to download the trial:

1. go here: https://store.pc-diagnostics.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=PCD-Pro-Trial
2. Add to Cart
3. Use the discount code: 995discount
4. Proceed to checkout and fill in your info

Hope that helps

Cheers

I spoke to their support and you did the exact same as I did..... after you registered for a trial you are redirected to a page that gives links to videos... well... right at the bottom of this long list of links is the instructions to download the trial!

I downloaded the trial and testing it right now (its a pain because you get 6 attempts and have to enter a code from their website each time which is linked to your order ID for the trial).

I will have some feedback soon. I use PC-Check and sometimes PC Doctor and they both seem a lot more refined than PC Diag (my first impressions) and I am currently testing it on a failed system that was failed by PC CHeck (hdd failure).

Hopefully they both give the same results. I only have 3 goes left to test this and I may just buy a license as its quite cheap as a backup anyway.

still being tested

I have been comparing failed tests with my normal diag software (Eurosoft PC-Check and PC-Doctor) with this one and the results are a bit hot or miss.

Hard disk SMART test failure (PC Check) wasnt picked up by PC Diag. Although probably not a major hard disk failure as the counters can be reset if needed but was expecting this to be picked up.

Processor Symmetry test failed (PC Check) and this wasnt picked up by PC Diag.

I think I have 1 more trial run to use (I may see if I can extend the trial) and hope to test it with a more serious hard disk fault and will report back.

I suggest using diagnostics tools like these when testing MOBO, CPU and GPU hardware, not memory and HDDs. In my experience, these AIO diagnostics tools are not as accurate as memtest86+ and gsmartcontrol or other tools specifically made to test these types of hardware.

Before I started my repair business I spent the past 15 years as a programmer. One of my early jobs was developing BIT (Built In Tests) for one of the Apache helicopter systems. The memory tests, flash drive tests etc were very intensive and but used the same tests as used by the AIO systems and Memtest86+ etc because the tests you can do are pretty much the same (i.e. for memory the basic tests are walking 1s, address and data line tests to test for stuck pins/bad joints/shorts etc) and believe that the AIO "should" do just as good job as any of the other testing software.

Obviously the advantage of the AIO is to run a full diagnostics without having to run individual diags as if you are working with 20+ new systems per day time is money and you dont want to be delayed between tests.

In theory, the tests "should" be pretty accurate with any system being used as stuck data or address lines will be quickly found... Memtest86+ for example runs the same tests over and over using different patterns but ultimately should be no different the AIO.

However, AIO systems are only a guide to help speed up the diagnostics. We use two different systems (PC CHeck and PC Doctor) if still not 100% convinced of the results and start the individual tests using memtest or some dedicated HDD test tool etc if needed.

I completely understand what you are saying, but I have tried it both ways and I have found that memtest86+ and gsmartcontrol are more accurate than PC Doctors diagnostics for memory and HDD. I can't speak for PC Check though . . . None the less, I can perform several diagnostics all at once efficiently with our current setup for much cheaper. In most cases, we do not spend much more than 5 minutes per computer to get the diagnostics going.

What set up do you have exactly? Is it all automated? Does it print out reports?

Read sig. The memtest86+ does not print out reports, but you can take pictures if you need to. Gsmartcontrol and PC-Doctor does print out a report, but its very rare that I feel the need to do so.

How are you getting on with this software? I am looking to buy it shortly while they still have their 5 multi-user licenses offer for $99 offer? Even if it is not amazing... it would still be good as a backup diag system while the other systems are in use? Have you had any issues with it yet (i.e. getting a diagnostics wrong?).

Thanks
