Facebook Ads

Going through a slow period as we've had good weather here recently. I have slipped ranking in the organic results for some search phrases but have bumped up a fair bit with my new website.

I did a test, there was an offer for £75 free Bing ads, I've had the campaign running for a week and no conversions at all to jobs.

Today I stuck Google ads up, got 2 jobs from it. A ps4 HDMI port replacement @ £60, data backup and transfer of data from 3 old laptops to a usb stick - another £60 Inc cost of the stick.

So Google ads gave me £120 of extra work within a couple of hours of being active, the cost? £5.

This is why Google rules, people will happily pay for what works. Facebook ads gave me nothing, Bing ads give me nothing. As long as Google works they can take my money

Thanks for the info. I am going to start my adwords campaign this week. I feel like it's got to be a better investment than the FB click farm.

I've taken the time to spend $500/mo~ on fb ads, and I feel that I got $0 in return. Waste of money. Not likely to ever do it again.

However, certain campaigns geared towards gaining likes on the page did work. Got a huge % of our page likes from that type of advertising.

I thought about this at one time too, then I read something that made sense, who actually searches fb for services, (they go to yelp or google) and not many like or trust the ads.

I was reading about this and I'm a newbie in general in this business. But from what I have been reading I think your best bet on Facebook would be specific services. You're right they are not searching for your service but, If there was a video targeting mother's between 30 and 40 who worry about what there kids are doing on the internet. They might not know that specific service exists, make a video that is fun and worth killing time for, it's what they are doing anyways. They might convert.

For large cities, Adwords is best way to go (if you know what you are doing). Ask your customers to give you reviews on Yelp as well, it helps. Lots of people find us on Yelp even though I have never paid for their advertising which sucks.

I those are "Sponsored" vs "Suggested". I hope my new guy who is doing it for free knows the diff. lol. With the groups getting so insane, this is the only reason why I am considering doing some light ads now.
Hey, do you have any leads on some others who might want to setup ads like yours for free? It has taken me 4-ever to learn the Adwords platform!

Yelp extorts and everyone knows it. Except the brick & mortar buildings that have their sticker on the front door. Suckers!

I know a tech who took a Facebook ad class but he's outside of most tech budgets I think, he targets Dentists and other high paying clients.

After delving into creating my first ad this weekend, I decided to hold off because they are changing their algorithms as well, PLUS many of the new popup blockers do a great job of blocking FB ads. I give up :(

I have boost posts only for computer techs, so it's narrowed down to only techs in the USA. I'll do one more international later on, but so far...for marketing, it's doing ok. In January I am launching my seo and marketing services and I'll be doing some Facebook boosts videos. Come back to this thread after you've done some, we can talk results!
