Fab's AutoBackup 6 Pro - a must have tool for techs

Don't want to stir up a hornets nest, but I've been thinking about this for the last hour, while I used Fabs to backup/restore another clients machine, SDIO to get drivers and running all my tools/installations/cleanup from WRT.
Thes tools save me a lot of money in time each year. A lot more than I paid for Fabs, and the others are totally free.
Development costs, hosting costs, administration costs etc, it all adds up.
Where would we be if Fabs, Alex or Glen suddenly went out of business? Sure we would find alternatives but those alternatives would be costly in time.
Of course, it's up to Fabs and others to "set their own pricing tables" and I'm extremely grateful that Fabs doesn't charge a subscription fee, but I was just trying to point out that (some of us) use these programs on a daily basis, even several times a day. Not forgetting the free support here and through their portals.
Matter of fact, where would we be in our repair businesses without programs like Fabs Autobackup, Windows Repair Toolbox, SDIO and even our beloved Technibble!
Apart from Fabs, they exist on donations. We make money from them.
Maybe time to give a little back?.....

Quite a few tools have been started and continue to be in existence because of the members here, in my opinion. I do not have a problem paying for a tool I use. We used to use D7II starting from D7 beta all the way to the current release and paid monthly for it. I know the hard feelings against it, but the truth was it was the best tool of it's kind, again in my opinion and worked very well for us. However we rarely do residential support anymore so it wasn't worth the subscription anymore. We did move to a licensed version of UVK for the off chance we work on residential machines. We also have a licensed version of Tweaking.com's All in One repair tool. For us we don't have near the trouble with business machines. If it comes to the point where all of the tools are monthly subscriptions we would probably go back to doing things manually because the automation is nice, but not a necessity for us like when we were mainly doing residential repair. I'm sure there are many more techs with the same opinion. Don't get me wrong, the people putting in the time and effort should be compensated, but I don't know what the answer is. I prefer one time payments, maybe with yearly upgrades or major upgrades or something.

It is my turn to be grateful now. I had a little surprise in my mailbox when I woke up this morning. Someone here has sent me 20 bucks with this message :
Hi Fab, I'm putting my money where my mouth is in this thread. The average price of a case of beer here in ... (censored by me, I do not know if that has to remain anonymous in this thread ;) ) is about $20.00. Thanks for all you do for us!

Thank you all, you are just incredible

I was thinking what I would be happy with to pay fabs. even at $50/month I would pay it. It is just simple math. It saves many hours/month(worth more than $50) and is more accurate in some regards as to doing this all manually, so it would be a good value at that price. Obviously that price would make me whine to myself, but that does not change the value giving for the price paid. If it was my product for sale I would probably do a monthly subscription model for $12.99. the cheap people may not pay it, but the majority of your clients would. I suspect your bank account would get much larger, as it should!

We may not be the most common user, as we do at least one to two reloads with data per day. I was just thinking we have purchased fab twice in the last 4 years we have spent just 75 euros, that is only 20/year average. That seems too low for the value

WRT, Fabs, and SDIO are the main tools I use. I use WRT a whole lot and Fabs is a no brainer before doing a nuke and pave. Definitely should get some love.

yes and yes!

It's a great tool, I will say that. I haven't had to use it much, but it works very well when I did and saved a lot of time!

I am on the fence about the idea of a subscription... it would deliver a lot more "regular" income for you and fund you
to expand the product and perhaps create others. I probably wouldn't subscribe, since I don't use it enough to really
want to spend monthly.... but maybe some sort of hybrid setup where you can purchase outright or subscribe? The
only trick would be something to warrant heavy users to want to subscribe, while not taking too much away from the
people who want to buy outright.

Maybe subscribers get newer features first, newer versions first or special features?

Hi,
I have news that should make many happy: the next Fab's AutoBackup version will have built in support for some cloud services local files. I have been asked for this once again (on Facebook this time). In a first place, I would have preferred this in Fab's Autobackup 7 but that would be too long to wait, so, I have finally decided to add support in Fab's AutoBackup 6 for :

- Microsoft OneDrive : synced folder's path gotten from the registry.
- Dropbox : path gotten by parsing the %LocalAppData%\Dropbox\info.json file
- Google Drive : gotten by dumping the configuration database using SQLite3.exe and parsing the result file.
- hubiC, a french service I use it to keep my sources in a safe place. Its synced folder's path is gotten using a similar way as Google Drive.
