I am curious if DriverPacks can be used as a standalone source of drivers. As I read a little it seems that you integrate them with a oem xp cd or the like.I would just like to have the drivers available.

Absolutely. If you get the driver packs from driverpacks.net and use the BASE that they created. You can tell it to make a stand alone disc. Its one of the first options. That will create a directory that you can burn to cd (or put on flash.) It will have a dp_inst_tool.cmd that you run. That command file will instally any drivers that have newer versions or arent actually installed yet.

You can also just take the compressed driverpacks files and uncompress them into a set of directories and put that onto a dvd and when doing an Update Driver from device manager you can just tell it to search with that dvd in the drive. It will then scan the whole dvd for the right driver.

I've never figured it out, but sometimes DriverForge using the same base wll get a different result. I keep both on my "installation flash", as well as the Russian Driver Pro (?!?). The combination solves most everything except some modems and Hauppage cards.
