Has anyone had experience with a international company claiming that they could or are about to use your domain name? Here is the email from one such company I have seen others just lately. Is this something to be worried about? I changed the domain name in the email to make it generic.

Dear CEO,

We are the department of Asian Domain Registration Service in China. I have something to confirm with you. We formally received an application on April 9, 2013 that a company which self-styled "Hengtong Investment Co.,Ltd" were applying to register "My Domain Name" as their Brand Name and some domain names through our firm.
Now we are handling this registration, and after our initial checking, we found the name were similar to your company's, so we need to check with you whether your company has authorized that company to register these names. If you authorized this, we will finish the registration at once. If you did not authorize, please let us know within 7 workdays, so that we will handle this issue better. Out of the time limit we will unconditionally finish the registration for "Hengtong Investment Co.,Ltd". Looking forward to your prompt reply.

Scam. They aren't saying they are taking your domain name. Instead they are trying to get you to go and pay for those domains to defend your brand.

I thought there was a no flaming policy here, I guess some of us cannot follow the standards or professionalism that this site promotes. I am so sorry that you lack standards or the ability to hold your lack of ethics at bay. A simple question was asked, I would automatically have deleted the emails and would normally instruct others to do the same but I asked a question to see if it was a common issue to see these types of emails, since I had only run across them recently.
