I'm pretty ******. This company seems to be in the business of grabbing domain names and reselling them for profit. My customer has been waiting for the domain name to be available for a year and it looks like these douches might grab it before me. Any suggestions on how I can get this name without having to pay them extortion money?

I got this email today:

Domain Sale Notice:
hXXXXXXXXXXXXXe.com is coming available for sale in a few days.
Since you own the domain huXXXXXXXXX-XXXXe.com, we thought you'd be interested in hXXXXXXXXXXXXXe.com.
If you do have interest in acquiring hXXXXXXXXXXXXXe.com, please fill up priority notice form available
here: iniXXXdomain.us/store/prioritynotice/bXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXa
and we will contact you as soon as the domain is available for purchase.

Places like GoDaddy let you get on a list when things come available but it's a crap shoot. The big boys have a lock on this and not much you can do. Alot of sites you sign up on a waiting list and then others see it and they will take it ahead of time.

since they know you want it there is not a lot you are going to be able to do. When a domain get deleted you can wait for it to drop and hope no one picks it up... since they KNOW you want it you are screwed... you need to go to http://www.clubdrop.com and sign up with them.. I think their are three or 4 of these companies who will try to buy the domain for you when it drops ( best bet is to sign up with them all if you really want it. Remember other people can do this also and you might get in a bidding war over a name.

just a heads up to anyone who reads this forum, when looking for a domain to purchase, i would highly recommend using InterNIC's official Whois lookup.

I forgot which site I was using once, but I was just "browsing" to see what random domains I entered were available that I had no intention on purchasing. The next day, some of these domains were registered by companies that only resell domains.

Well, somebody got the domain name, I don't know who though. I have to assume it's these itdomainnames.net douchebags.

I very much agree with MrUnknown. I have had the same experience using one of several WhoIs sites and found that an improbable domain name was registered by a reseller a short time later.

P.S. Sorry to hear they got the domain name MHCG.

Huzzah! It looks like my previous post was premature. I just got an email from godaddy letting me know that they were able to reserve the domain name. Kind of odd that godaddy would make the initial registration through gocanadadomains.com

Well either way, the little guy won and those cybersquatters called itdomainnames.net can suck it.
