Does 'Square' Have A Doppelganger In The UK?

Just ordered the izettle card reader for my wife. She's going to be the guinea pig before I decide to go with them. She runs a nails and beauty biz here from home and often has the chance to upsell retail products on the spot which is useful as her clients often only have enough cash to pay for the treatment and are willing to buy aftercare products if she accepted cards.

Apparently there is a way to use VISA for payments now but it it's not as convenient. See the lower part of this page: http://help.izettle.com/customer/portal/articles/531055-how-do-i-take-a-card-payment-

I got the card reader a while back but never went with them because of the non support for Visa at the time. I have been accepted by Mpowa now.

Sounds good but the wife and I are trying to climb out of a hole of bad credit which hit us when we had both lost our jobs, run out of reserves and I was trying to get my business off the ground. Now three years later and although we're well on the way to paying off our debts without bankruptcy or IVAs, nobody will give us a merchant account. At least not any one we can find.

Was also looking forward to "Paypal Here" but I don't think it will be in the UK soon.

'mPowa' - I wonder how this will be priced.

I still get 60% of my payments by cheque but occasionally it would be good to be able to process a credit or debit card in a similar way to our cousins in the USA.

www.mpowa.me/index.html here is the link to pre-register.

I have seen that Paypal will be starting a service like this, still waiting on news of when though....

I signed upto Mpowa but never received their old swipe devices. I then received an email saying I would get a free chip'n'pin bluetooth device when they were available but that was nearly 2 months ago now. Not heard anything since.

Anyone using Mpowa's new chip'n'pin device?

Just got my IZettle read this morning and paid myself £1 by Visa and worked fine :) Nice little unit working via Bluetooth to my Ipad and the IZettle app installed on there.
