'mPowa' - I wonder how this will be priced.

I still get 60% of my payments by cheque but occasionally it would be good to be able to process a credit or debit card in a similar way to our cousins in the USA.

www.mpowa.me/index.html here is the link to pre-register.

Credit/debit cards are the new cash in the States. Cash and checks are becoming a thing of the past over here. I use Square with my Iphone and it is pretty nifty. It even shows where (on a map) the transaction took place.

I'm not trying to replace cheques. There are no charges involved with them and I pass my local bank most days. However it would add an extra tool to my accounting for the odd occasions where the customer can't find their cheque book.

This looks very handy. I don't mind cheques but only business tend to pay me this way as residential customers pay by cash most of the time but it would be nice to have the option for cards.

I signed up with a card terminal co, earlier in the year called Handepay. Very cheap processing fees, which come down after the first 12 months.

At the moment, im currently paying 16p db card, and 2.1% crd card. I dont bother with amex.

I know you cannot add a processing fee for db cards, but our local council have now changed their policy, so that if you pay your council tax, by credit card, there is an additional % to go on top. Now my way of thinking, if its good enough for the council, and they can get away with it, i'm sure going to think about it also!.

mPowa - Not as it was originally advertised. You will still need a merchant account and therefore will need to pay the associated monthly fee. Was very disappointed when it was released.

iZettle - Like square, no need for a merchant account. Can't take visa at the moment though, only MasterCard, Amex and Diners Club. Looks good so far though. Card reader arrived quickly too.

I think you still have to have a merchant account whoever you go with,is that right? I've registered with Mpowa and am waiting for a call about merchant account and the gizmo for my IPad. I really want to stop taking cheques etc

Is there a timescale for Visa transactions? That would be the majority of transactions at a guess for me.

You don't need a merchant account for iZettle. I have asked about Visa and they said they are still in beta, but are working on it. From reading, it would appear they had a significant amount of investment from MasterCard, hence the early support for that.

Ok I'm signed up and accepted, waiting for the reader for my Ipad :) PCRT on it, what more can I ask? :) a bit bigger and it could be a shelter from the rain here in the UK :(

Darren please keep us all updated on how your getting on with izettle

do they have a min amount or value of transactions every month? as mastercard not our most popular method of payment (mostly visa).
