My boot time is about 45 seconds with two hard disks and one optical. Would I get much of a boost if I put my OS disk on a SSD?

Assuming the very likely scenario of the hard drive being the bottleneck... Yes 1000 times over. I can't stress enough how much better SSDs are. They really are THAT good.
