Hey guys,

My name is Max and I’m on the DeskRoll Team. A couple of words about our remote support/unattended access tool. We built it to be as easy to use as possible, with essential features for remote support. Also, we wanted our licensing to cover every need at a minimum cost. So, with any personal DeskRoll license, you connect to unlimited clients and computers. Also, it covers all your devices, handhelds, desktops, laptops, etc.

DeskRoll works in any HTML-5 compliant web browser, including mobiles (iOS, Android, Blackberry, etc.). You can use any OS on your side and you can support customers sitting on Windows and Macs. Current product version is 1.8. A personal license is $29.95/Mo and there are discounts for annual licenses and bulk license purchases.

Our customers are mostly IT entrepreneurs and small companies doing IT support and maintenance.

-=A couple of words about us=-
UPD: Here goes the link to the website https://deskroll.com
UPD: Feel free to check the About page for features :)

SkyFex Inc. is based in Cupertino, CA. BTW we have yet another remote desktop tool – SkyFex (released in 2006). However, we are now putting more love into DeskRoll, making it easy, neat, fast and a pleasure to use overall.

Any feedback is welcome and much appreciated!

-Max.

Max,

Your website is vague on features. How about a full list of features/capabilities? Thanks.

Fixed the link :)
Nope, there's no session recording just yet. BTW what'd be your favorite way to record/store sessions - locally or in the cloud?

Well that depends how big the files are. I like how teamviewer does it but if the files are small enough I dont see any reason why cloud wouldnt be preferred if its just as easily viewable.

Joe, thanks for that point! I agree that the home page describes everything somewhat in vague terms. We have the About page to dwell a bit deeper into detail. Did you check the About page at https://deskroll.com/about.php ?

Hi Max. I took a look at the About page, but I find it's still lacking the detail I would be looking for when evaluating remote support software/service. For example, here are the feature lists for a few competitors in this space: ScreenConnect, Instant Housecall.

Thanks! We rather focused the product description on the benefits and problems solved but now I think that a full feature list should be there. I think we could add it in the nearest release.

Seems pretty cool, what about the ability to add users, and allow them access to be able to remote into their machine with their own account, but managed by ours?

Logmein allows this through central, but we are looking for a solution that will replace them.

As long as the full list is somewhere and is not difficult to find, it doesn't matter which particular page it is on. Best of luck with this product; I'll be keeping an eye on it.

Features listed:
  • SSL (pretty standard)
  • Runs from a browser (meh)
  • Chat (pretty standard)
  • Multi-click file transfer (not drag'n'drop)
  • Quick system info (something worthwhile!)
...and that's about it.

MISSING/UNMENTIONED: (And gods know why you wouldn't mention important features)
  • Reboot and reconnect?
  • Reboot into Safe Mode?
  • Installs as a service?
  • Reconnects itself if connection drops?
  • Send keystrokes (e.g. Win-key commands, C-A-D)?

"Works on mobile devices" should say "Works from mobile devices" unless it can actually remotely control a tablet/phone.

This lists so few features that it reads more like Join.Me for screen sharing than a full-featured technician's tool for remote support.

Edit: Why does the profile for the OP list 20 posts but only the 5 in this thread show up? Not even an Intro?

(( Edit by Bryce: We have a "15 post minimum before you can post links system" in place to stop spammers. I manually upped his post count so he could post links. ))

You can. You can open as many as you like, provided that you have enough bandwidth, of course. Also, you can take advantage of the session Pause feature to save bandwidth while switching between sessions.
Your site says you can "stack multiple one-time licenses". If you can connect to multiple machines at the same time, why would anyone need more than one license?

You may want to have one of your team-members or someone close to the product, make a couple of youtube videos showing some basic use of the software, highlights of product, etc.

He's here advertising the product with Bryce's permission. I expect Bryce bumps up the post count of new advertisers so they can post links.

Agreed. Makes one wonder if the feature list is weak and this is how they hide that fact or if they are just behind in promoting their product. Just saying...

Read the last sentence. Multi-year, unlimited connections....

Points taken! :) I've jotted down the feature list and we'll release it on site tomorrow. It's a bit lengthy so I see no point posting it here. I'll be sending an update when it goes live.

Your site says you can "stack multiple one-time licenses". If you can connect to multiple machines at the same time, why would anyone need more than one license?
Let me explain. All licenses are limited in time (yeah, might sound like a disappointment but hey - you have unlimited contacts and concurrent sessions). So, you can buy a one-time license and it will expire. But if you buy multiple licenses they will stack and expire one after another. That's a good alternative to subscription-based licensing (which we are also offering).

Oh, we do have a youtube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/DeskRollTeam and we'll be adding more videos soon!

Thank you so much! :) We'll be adding the full list shortly.

Thanks Max.

What about:

Reboot and reconnect?
Reboot into Safe Mode?
Installs as a service?
Capture user credentials for input after reboot?

What else am I missing to ask Max?
