$289.99

Seems like a pretty decent deal for $290?

Any known issues or personally experienced issues with this line of laptops? It's on sale for 48 hours which isn't a huge deal... it's only $10 cheaper.

Basically I'm looking for a smaller laptop (13.3 or 15 inch screen) for my aunt. She's totally new to computers but wants to get more educated and start using a computer regularly and wants something in the $300 dollar range.

As far as I'm concerned, win 7 would be a must as well as 4+ GB of memory. Hard drive size (or speed) isn't a huge concern. I do want to avoid any with known flaws.

My only concerns:

Re-furbished........was it because of a hard drive issue? Replaced with a re-furbished hard drive? We all know where that is going to lead....hard drive failure! I used to be a big fan of re-furbished computers, not so much any more. Refurbished used to be "looks like new". Now they seem to include "well used".

USB ports........1 and one esata/usb.

For this price range though, your not going to get much else.

Not familiar with any known issues to this model.

Thanks,

I've decided to pass on this one. The reviews were enough for me to say no to it... I'd rather her go a little outside her budget then get stuck with a junko. Black friday is coming after all.

Latitude E4310 would have been the equivalent of the Thinkpad X201 or HP EliteBook 2540p. A quick review:

doesn't throw up any major bad points. Sure you could buy better but unless you go for a refurb like this for $300 you'll only get consumer grade junk.

Personally I would rather one of these business grade laptops even if I had to budget a new HDD or SSD (and I'd lean to an SSD for someone who's never had a PC before because people are constantly moving laptops when the drive is on).
