Anyone getting a lot of Dell computers that stopped booting? Just seems like to much of a coincidence they are all breaking at once

We haven't seen this. We only sell Dell computers. What do you mean by stopped booting? Does the computer not power up or get's stuck on the the Dell splash screen or Windows gets stuck during boot? Are these business or consumer computers? What OS?

It gives an error that it can't access the hard drive, dell support says its a bad hard drive, but its not. I jut been backing up data and reloading OS. This is the 4th one this month Dell inspiron.

All the same symptom, hard drive seen in bios. Can't access drive

What is giving the error it can't see the drive the bios or Windows?

What happens if you drop the drive into a caddy and access it from another computer can you see it?

Sounds like a misconfigured setting or bad windows updates

Also be helpful to know what OS they are running 7/8/10?

Dell support will walk you through their built-in diagnostic. They concluded the drives are bad, but you say their fine. How did each of you arrive at your conclusions?
I just yanked the drive and put it in the docking station and my other computer picked it up instantly. Got their data off the drive, SMART check said its passing. Seagate hard disk check passed.

Sounds like I did answer your question with the last one too. I guess I didn't think I needed much detail because I thought everyone might have seen it.,

If it's a particular series I would download the latest UEFI update and run it on all the machines that come in for that issue as well. I personally make it a habit to update the BIOS/UEFI of machines that I get. Also removes headaches when it comes to RAM replacements/ upgrades in the future.

Yes, years ago like 2004 to 2006. It was bulging capacitors on the motherboards

He is seeing problems with a BRAND, not a model of computers and the most popular brand at that. Me thinks the OP has jumped to a conclusion based on mere coincidence.

Yeah, I would tend to agree. I would recommend the OP be specific. Are there any error messages? What does the OP mean by "stopped booting???" Does it complete the Power-On-Self-Test (POST) etc... ???

What troubleshooting has been completed?

Has the OP run any diagnostics???

What is the resolution? Replacing a specific part? or does an OS installation fix it?

If the later, it likely has nothing to do with Dell at all.

The first thing I do with a system that has power, but doesn't post, or hangs at the splash screen is this: remove all power including BIOS battery, Press power button for 5 seconds or so. Then apply AC power and see if it post. Sometimes it will take up to a minute for the screen to come back to life. Of course there will be BIOS errors date/time. Shut down the laptop, plug BIOS battery back in and laptop battery. start system back up, boot to BIOS fix date/time. Reset to factory defaults. Reboot to windows. Does not always work. But about 40-60% of the time. Again does not always work. But cost nothing but a few minutes of your time.....

I work on Dell and HP everyday
