How have you decorated your storefront or other location if you have customers come to you?

I don't have a storefront, rather work from home. There is a separate entrance to the basement, which is where I direct people. I have a sign at the end of the driveway which states to go around back (professional sign). Then the window on the basement door has my business name and phone number/hours, again professionally done.

The basement area has been recently renovated, it's a 1/2 basement which is closed off from the other half. It's fully carpeted, new paint, drop ceiling, doors. At the end of it, opposite the entrance, I have two full size arcades I built and showcase for selling. I have a free standing sign with some prices a few feet from that. As you enter the doorway, to the left is a poster of myself on a motorcycle advertising my business, stating 'even gas prices won't keep us from our customers.' I have a desk to the right, with a stool. They can drop off their computer stuff right there. On the wall to the desk is a dry erase board which is magnetic. It can be used to show people whatever I'd like to illustrate to make a point.

Also in the main basement area is a game table in front of the arcades, which is wood and has four chairs. To the left of that is a bar stool (round, glass) with two stools and is against the wall. On the opposite wall is a small tv on a stand, and has a stereo and dvd player.

A few feet from the bar stool is one of those arcade type dart games on the wall - which is a folding wood type, so it's closed all the time unless being played. There is another small room near the TV (used for workout room) but I have that room closed when people come as well.

Behind the desk I have my lab/work room, which I generally have closed unless I have them enter to make a payment online for credit cards, or have them test their equipment before they leave. This room has my diplomas displayed on the opposite wall as you enter.

What I'd like to do to make it look more like a professional environment/business is:

- Have a paved walkway to the back door from the driveway
- Add drywall to the entranceway (it's just an enclosed doorway, with wood exposed)
- Hang a large 19" lcd monitor on the wall displaying all sorts of things I do, prices, etc., in a slideshow format

Any posters I could put up would not be needed if I use the monitor slideshow idea, but should I have some anyhow? I only have the one of me on the motorbike now.

What else can I do to make the area look like a real business? (I'll post pictures hopefully later today.) What does your area look like? What ideas do you have to make it look cool/high tech for customers?

Thanks all --

My storefront's a very simple layout... we have a small lobby that's about 6ft x 10ft and a window/shelf to check in systems. We have two chairs off to one side, and a table with a couple of magazines and two books (an intel 386 engineering manual and a 8088 reference book...only one guy actually ever picked those up to fake read them. :D )
On the wall, we have all of our certifications on one side of the window, on the other we have an iMac "Yum" poster and the "History of Commodore Computers" poster.

Post ya pics of ya stores up men Don't be shy!

Only one. Here's my lobby and my business partner doing something or other.

Our very unpretentious 'lobby'. Security system sensors conveniently removed from photos....
I set off the system once on accident. A mistake I will not make again.

Here's my -lobby-

Been a while getting my pics up, had a rash of repairs recently!

As my 'store' is my basement, here's what you'd call my 'lobby.' It's a work in progress. Always trying to come up with something cooler/better. Recently, I added a monitor which is displaying ppt ads from a pc in another room, connected via cabling hidden by the drop ceiling. I plan on finding a table cloth to dress up the table display, but believe it or not, it's been hard to find a black one!

Yes, those are arcades in the background. I made one from scratch, and another refurbished. Both run by a PC.

Also, as this IS my basement, if people venture beyond the linoleum entrance way, I have them remove their shows. Haven't had an issue with anyone about it yet.

No pics of the outside entrance yet, but I do have professional sign lettering on the door on the outside. Plan on sprucing that up too. Basically trying to make it look more like a business entrance.
