I have seen lately most if not all new manufactered computers (desktop / towers) from Dell, HP, Lenovo all come with card reader slots in the front of computer along with the standard usb / firewire slots. However I use pretty much only Antec cases for my custom builds and can not find one that has them. Nor a motherboard with a port for them. Does anyone custom build PC's with them. Also does anyone have cases custom designed with there company logo on them if so from where and how. Thanks!! Eric

You can find the card readers that fit in your standard cd bay. I have used this one before....

That has your media cards, usb, firewire, and headphone jack. Also has a sata and line in.

I find most people don't even use the media card readers. It is easier to just plug the device in via usb/fire wire then take the card out, pop it in the pc, take it back out, and put it back in the device.

thank you sir, Yes I agree I know and you know nobody will use them but when customers see them on the computers in the store and not on mine they ask why. I have just been getting away with telling them what you said. A separate card reader is better for when the slot in the computer goes bad you will be without your entire system when getting it repaired. its just one more thing to worry about breaking in your system, But when the external goes bad just pop in a new one...so what slot on the MB does the card reader connect to?

Probably one of the best answers or explanations is to get them an external reader and explain the reason is that you only carry those because 75%+ of your clients own laptops and the external USB type allows it to be taken with them for use on the laptop and desktop.

The card readers connect to a USB header on the motherboard. The one posted by ProTech Support also connects to two sata ports for the esata connections, front audio header for the headphone/mic jacks and s/pdif out for the front s/pdif jack. If you don't need esata or the audio ports you can find ones with just card readers or card readers & USB ports.

For a case with a custom logo I'd suggest going to a local printer with your logo and have little square badges printed up that can stick to the front of the case. Depending on the case, some of them have square indentations for custom branding.
