I was talking to a buddy of mines at work today and we were talking about a few CompTIA certificates. Certificates such as the CompTIA Strata, IT for Sales, Healthcare IT, Green IT, and Cloud Essentials. He bought up a good point about why these certificates are not as popular as the A+. Network+, and Security+ certifications. I visited CompTIA's website today to realize that the certificates are in a different group than the certifications. Why is that, I do not know. I called a close friend of mines who is a Subject Matter Expert, he explained the whole breakdown to me. From his perspective how the certificates are basic fundamentals on the industry.

My question is should people spent money to take the exam because I'm very interested in the certificates?

Depends on your clients... and the future direction of your company.

The best clients come via recommendations and seldom does the client care what certs you have. If you go to work for someone else, they would like you to have certs, especially those Microsoft and Cisco certs, because the more certs a company has under their name or associated with their company, the better discount or buying power they have. If you company doesn't have someone with a Cisco cert, you will not be able to purchase certain Cisco products from certain vendors (like Cisco phone systems).

If your are going to hire an employee or a person as a 1099 contractor, by all means, look for someone with certs, but it doesn't always mean the person will be a good fit for the company. The fit and the person's knowledge is utmost important in my book.
