Compaq SR1750NX Desktop Boot Problems

Don't have a Windows Disc to load from scratch, that is why I was trying other alternatives. I ran SpinRite on this drive both 2 Recovery and 4 Maintenance and it passed without errors. It shows up in disk management as a healthy drive. I guess it has turned out to be more of a challenge than a repair. Win or lose it is still going against the wall.

I know there is some discussion here about "legality', but Digital River has most of the current versions available for download. These are MS images.

For Media Center, you can go the torrent route, just be sure to check it carefully. Since there was no "retail" version, any one you get should work.

Didn’t get to throw the hard drive against the wall, but I got the PC off my bench. Get this, the customer wanted the six year old computer back (cd/dvd drive didn't work either), and screamed bloody murder when I charged them a $75 diagnostic fee. After quite a verbal exchange with the customer I settled for $35 and told them to have their electronic equipment fixed elsewhere. This forum is closed!

Thanks to all the great suggestions and ideas.
