A good client of mine who is one of the premier auto repair shops around called me to ask for advice on how to proceed. Since his shop has gotten more publicity locally he has been getting a lot of very bad reviews on google & yelp, to the point where he has almost has to pay someone just to contact yelp & google repeatedly to have them removed.

He PAYS yelp for the services they offer, and yet he has a very difficult time getting someone to call him back to remove these reviews. Just yesterday they called yelp 10 times, and still no call back.

It's obvious that the reviews are malicious because you can see whoever is doing it is copy and pasting bad reviews from other people onto his listing. It's so bad that sometimes the person posting these forgets to change the name of the company so they copy & pasted review makes no sense as it is for someone else entirely.

He's contacted the local authorities and they said they couldn't do anything without a name.

I told him yelp "could" track the IP of the poster but that doesn't really give you a whole lot, not to mention to get that information I assume it would have to be subpoenaed.

Any thoughts?

I cant see what can be done to impact this from the outside. Seems to me the issue is between the customer and Yelp

As with any bureaucracy, the extent of the quality of service he receives will likely be contingent on how well he can voice his case up the chain of command, in regard to the ip tracking issue and dealing with 'fake' negative reviews.

Other than getting senior staff involved at the Yelp end, I dont see what more can be done. As the account holder, he is probably in the best position to do this himself.

Maybe if he STOPS paying Yelp for service he will get much quicker help..I am sure the minute he stops paying they will call him.
